About the Festival
The Big Sandy Film Festival is a two day festival held at The Garden Theater in Louisa, Kentucky on August 23-24, 2024.
The 2024 call for submissions opens April 12, 2024 and will run through July 6, 2024. November 3, 2023 and will run through late July 2024.
All films that are officially selected for our program will receive one free all-access pass to the festival and 20% off additional passes up to 2 passes.

The Big Sandy Film Festival will be held at the Garden Theater in Louisa, Kentucky from August 23-24, 2024. Both days will be filled with great films, and a full schedule of events will be released in early August.
What kind of films will be shown?
Films of all kinds will be shown at the festival including student films, short films, documentaries, and feature films.
How do I buy a ticket?
Two day passes for the festival will be available for presale for $30.00 starting in July. One day passes will also be available for $20.00 per day.

The submission fee varies from $5 to $35 depending on the film category, type, and deadline. You can view this on our FilmFreeway page.
What kind of films do you accept.
We accept short films, features, documentaries, scripted narratives, and student films. However, explicit content in a film could play a small role in programming decisions.
What happens if I am accepted?
Notification of acceptance will be sent out on July 20th via FilmFreeway. If you are accepted then you will be sent information on how to claim your free filmmaker festival pass and additional discounted passes.
